Pastor Mark Jayakumar’s life began with misery; he was rejected and abandoned by his parent's when he was just 3 days old, left in a hospital in the rural part of the Kolar District (about 80 kilometers from Bangalore) in Karnataka, South India.

He was adopted and raised up by Canadian Missionaries (WMC-World Missions to Children). At the age of 15 Pastor Mark’s adoptive parents narrated him the true story of where he was and how he had come to them. Heartbroken, he thought, this situation should not happen to anyone. At the young age 15 he made up his mind to take up the challenge to adopt and care for the young ones as they should not be left out in this world as orphans.

After his schooling, he studied for his B.Th (Bachelor of Theology) in Haryana North India. While attending Grace Bible College (GBC), the Lord Spoke to him. He was spending his personal time of prayer in a lonely room, and the Lord’s anointing was so strong on him, the Holy Spirit showed him a vision to go to Karnataka South-India and start the work of God in Bangalore (Chellikere Village). But he did not know were this village was located, and so after finishing His B.Th (Bachelor of Theology), Pastor Mark Jayakumar came at midnight to this unknown village called "Chellikere" as the Lord had spoken to him in the Bible College.

Rays of Peace Ministries was started in the Year 1988 by Pastor Mark Jayakumar. When he started this ministry he was able to gain only 2 souls in the first year. His first believer was an old lady of the village and his beloved wife Francina Mark who was very much supportive. In his early days of ministry he was not able to afford to buy food, so he used to eat onions and drink water for his meals. As days passed, the Lord blessed him with groceries from the villagers. Pastor Mark was beaten up by the same villagers many times and was asked to leave the village. During this time of village ministry the Lord used him to cast out many evil spirits that possessed people in the village. He was led by the Lord to travel to many other villages in and around Bangalore to share the Gospel. Many times he was persecuted and beaten up, but even with much suffering and persecution Pastor Mark took on the challenge to gain more souls in Karnataka.

In another vision, the Lord showed him 3 rings: in these rings the first ring encompassed a few people, and the second with a few more, and third ring was the ring breaking out and expanding and multiplying. Today the Church is filled with 300 souls and Divine Gospel Church is the Mother church of 4 branch churches and the Lord is bringing new souls every Sunday into “Divine Gospel Church". He also had a vision to start a home for the rejected and abandoned which was running over his mind constantly. The sadness was buried deep into his heart. He had a point to prove to the world that the rejected and abandoned are not left alone in this world to suffer. So after completion of his Theological studies he started the Lord’s Ministry and then started a ‘home’ for the unprivileged in a small way with just two boys initially.

Today Pastor Mark takes care of Rays of Peace Orphanages in North & South India totally consisting of 150 Children. Pastor Mark’s future plan is to start many more homes for Orphan Babies & Children all round India, who have been rejected and abandoned by their parents and society. And mold these children to become rulers and visionaries for the Gen Next of this World.

Today Pastor Mark is blessed with his 5 daughters Jennifer, Jessica, Jannet, Joyce, Judy Elizabeth & a son Caleb and 2 son-in-laws Jason & Steven. And a blessed and dedicated Team. Praise God! For what He is doing through Rays of Peace Ministries.
